Richard started his career as a mechanical and electrical quantity surveyor with Mathew Hall in 1987. He later moved to Press Construction and gained vast experience in the petrochemical and pharmaceutical fields. During a 5 year period with Haden Young he rose to the position of branch surveyor and was later appointed to the position of Commercial Manager with a M&E Company in the south west region. He joined MaitlandQS in 1997 as an experienced operator, managing major projects for several key clients. In 2005 he was appointed Deputy Managing Director and in December 2008 took on the role of Managing Director when the ownership of the business passed from Frank Maitland (now Chairman) to the senior management team. Richard is responsible for the development and organisation of the business. Richard is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Charted Institute of Builders.

In 1978 Mark started his career in the construction industry working as a mechanical and electrical quantity surveyor. Mark's experience has been gained working for major contractors as a quantity surveyor and also working within a busy contract claims department, he also has experience working as a PQS setting cost plan budgets and analysing contractors accounts and has worked in consultancy since 1988. Joining MaitlandQS in 1992 Mark worked as a senior quantity surveyor and was appointed director in 1996. He is now jointly responsible for the overall success and expansion of the business and continues to work on matters of dispute resolution and claims recovery. In 2002 he became an accredited Mediator.
